To our loyal guests and the Aquidneck Island community:

We’ve made the decision to close Foodlove Market.

The concept of Foodlove was born early in the pandemic. We are restaurateurs, and much like the entire hospitality community, saw our restaurants close overnight. The uncertainty of that time had us wondering if the way people dined going forward would be altered. Thus, we set out to create something new, to meet the moment.

The result is what we see today in Foodlove Market. We are proud to have created something that locals love and truly felt different from our other concepts. Guest sentiment supported this and watching people meet at the market and become “regulars” has been a delight. This community support was evidenced in our sales, growing year over year.

Still, this new business was a risk for us. Combining grocery store, deli, takeout meals, and restaurant concepts was not something we have experience in. Despite the dedication of our employee-owners who worked very hard to make Foodlove a success, and bringing on team members who do have the relevant experience, we have continued to realize unsustainable losses.

We are grateful to the community for your support these last three years, and for the dedicated staff at Foodlove, many of whom have been there since its opening day.

The market will be closing its doors on Saturday, January 25th, and we invite you to come in before then to enjoy a meal, do a little shopping, or have a conversation.

Wooden Pin Baking Co., Newport Restaurant Group’s wedding cake business, will continue to operate out of this space, by appointment only.

Later this year, you can look forward to enjoying a new experience in the Foodlove space as we open our doors to what we do best – a new restaurant concept. Please stay tuned for more information.

With much appreciation to you all.

Sincerely,

The Employee-owners of Newport Restaurant Group
